Wilderblean Kent

A new type of wilding project established by Kent Wildlife Trust and Wildwood Trust to restore the ancient woodland in the West Blean Woods nature reserve. The project looks to establish stronger habitats in the Blean Woods near Herne Bay, Whitstable, and Canterbury, UK. The process involves restoring natural conditions to combat species decline as well as to be resilient to current environmental crisis’s . A key species used in the project is the European Bison for their ability to be ecosystem engineers.
